Mahjong Smash by 5G Games – New Game Preview

Mahjong Smash Is Coming to 5G Games

Mahjong Smash, the latest title from 5G Games, is scheduled to launch on September 2, 2026, bringing a familiar mahjong theme together with modern cascading mechanics and some seriously large multiplier potential.

The headline number is a maximum win of x10,000, but that’s not the only feature that caught our attention.

Mahjong Smash will also feature Giant Symbols, Cascading Wins, Extra Wilds, and a multiplier that can climb as high as x8,192.

That’s quite a lot packed into one game.

While we’ll need to wait for the full release to see exactly how everything comes together in practice, the early feature list suggests this won’t be a traditional mahjong-themed slot with little more than a new coat of paint.

What We Know So Far

Based on the pre-release information from 5G Games, Mahjong Smash will include:

  • Maximum Win: x10,000
  • Giant Symbol feature
  • Cascading Wins
  • Extra Wild symbols
  • Multiplier up to x8,192
  • Release Date: September 2, 2026

The combination of cascading wins and a multiplier reaching x8,192 is probably the most interesting part of the announcement.

Cascading games can keep a single sequence going when new winning combinations continue to form. Add a growing multiplier into that equation, and there’s clearly room for some much bigger sequences when the features line up.

Exactly how quickly the multiplier increases—and what players need to do to reach its upper levels—should become clearer once the final game and paytable are available.

Giant Symbols

One of the confirmed features is Giant Symbols.

As the name suggests, these are oversized symbols that can occupy more space on the game area than regular symbols.

The interesting question is how 5G Games will use them.

In some games, oversized symbols simply improve the chances of creating larger combinations. In others, they’re connected to bonus mechanics or special transformations.

5G Games hasn’t provided all of the mechanical details yet, so we’ll avoid guessing. What we do know is that Giant Symbols will form an important part of Mahjong Smash’s feature set.

Cascading Wins

Mahjong Smash will also use a Cascading Wins mechanic.

Rather than immediately ending the sequence after a winning combination appears, winning symbols can be removed and replaced, potentially creating another win from the same initial play.

It’s a mechanic that works particularly well when combined with multipliers.

One successful cascade can potentially lead into another, keeping the sequence alive while additional features have a chance to come into play.

The real test will be how often these longer cascades occur and how the multiplier behaves as they continue.

Multiplier Up to x8,192

This is easily one of the more eye-catching numbers in the announcement.

Mahjong Smash will feature a multiplier capable of reaching x8,192.

That’s an unusually specific—and very large—maximum multiplier.

It also raises some interesting questions about the progression system. Does the multiplier double during consecutive cascades? Are certain symbols required to increase it? Does it reset after each sequence?

We’ll know more once the official rules are available.

For now, what can be confirmed is that x8,192 is the advertised upper multiplier limit, while the overall game carries a maximum win of x10,000.

Players shouldn’t confuse the two figures. A maximum multiplier is part of the game’s mechanics, while the x10,000 figure represents the advertised maximum-win ceiling.

Extra Wilds

Extra Wilds are another confirmed part of Mahjong Smash.

Wild symbols typically help complete winning combinations by substituting for other eligible symbols, although the exact behavior depends on the individual game’s rules.

Combined with Cascading Wins and Giant Symbols, additional Wilds could become particularly useful during longer sequences.

Again, we’ll reserve judgment until the final version is playable.

A feature list can look impressive before release, but what really matters is how naturally those mechanics work together during an actual session.

A Mahjong Theme With a More Modern Approach

Mahjong-themed casino games are nothing new, particularly across Asian markets.

What makes Mahjong Smash more interesting on paper is the decision to pair the traditional visual theme with mechanics commonly found in newer online slots.

Instead of relying on the mahjong theme alone, 5G Games appears to be building the experience around cascades, oversized symbols, Wilds and escalating multipliers.

That should give the game a faster and more contemporary feel than a conventional mahjong-inspired slot.

We’ll have a better idea of how successful that combination is after launch.

Currency Availability

There’s one important limitation to know ahead of launch.

According to the pre-release announcement, PHP, IDR and IDR2 are currently not supported.

That means players or operators using those currency configurations may not have access to the game at launch unless 5G Games updates its supported currencies later.

Players should check availability with their respective platform after the official release.

What We’re Watching at Launch

There are a few things we’ll be particularly interested in testing once Mahjong Smash becomes available.

First is the x8,192 multiplier. The number sounds impressive, but we’ll want to see how the multiplier progresses during normal gameplay and what conditions are required to reach the higher levels.

We’re also interested in seeing how Giant Symbols interact with Cascading Wins and Extra Wilds.

If those mechanics regularly overlap rather than operating as isolated features, Mahjong Smash could produce some entertaining sequences.

Finally, there’s the x10,000 maximum win.

As always, a maximum-win figure represents the game’s highest advertised potential outcome. It shouldn’t be interpreted as a typical result or something players can expect to achieve during an ordinary session.

First Thoughts

There’s enough in the early announcement to make Mahjong Smash worth keeping an eye on.

The mahjong theme itself is familiar territory, but the mechanics are much more interesting: Giant Symbols, Cascading Wins, Extra Wilds and a multiplier that can reach x8,192.

The x10,000 maximum win gives the game a clear headline figure, although we’re more interested in seeing how the cascading and multiplier systems behave from one round to the next.

For now, this remains a preview rather than a full review.

We’ll know whether Mahjong Smash lives up to its feature list when the game officially launches on September 2, 2026.
